Downer at dusk~Talha anjum

Originally released in Feb 2023 by Talha Anjum a Pakistani rapper/singer through his EP Open letter which got 102,694,075 streams in 2023 Spotify wrap. Downers at dusk being the most popular song from this ep Talha released the music video for this banger in October 2023. The video currently has 9.8 million views. The song was written and performed by Talha Anjum himself produced by UMAIR and JHOKAY mixed and mastered the music. The video itself is directed by Abdul Wali Baloch. The video is a narrative based video showing the death of Talhas' lover (Mayra Jaffri) who is shown shot in a robbery at the end of the video. The whole video revolves around showing memories of Talha and Mayra together and how Talha is reliving the memories alone without her as she is dead. Talha is shown imagining her being there with him aswell. Location of this video is the mountains somewhere in Sakardu. At the end of the video Talha shots the robber who killed Mayra and is shown sitting by the grave crying.

Costumes:

Costumes here are a rollercoaster the whole video is shot in the mountains so the dress code was rather 'fall' normal day fall clothes are worn. Funky coats, denim coats puffers plain sweatshirts and sweaters were used. The genre is definitely POP here showing modern fashion and closeups of stars face.

the props

There weren't as such as many props here except the car which showed us memories of them together at the end the robber is tied in the trunk of the same exact car

The main prop here has to be the girl. Nothing about her character is shown here or anything about her that the audience can know to get to know her more is shown. All we can see is she is the key to Talhas' happiness as his smile fades as she goes away. He is only shown happy and smiling with her. It may be shown that she was his only friend? Only person he's ever known taken away? The girl is shown great importance they're bond is shown how happy they are when they're together their talks their date's everything is shown but then all those locations she was at Talha is shown wandering their alone

Colours lights camerawork and editing

When comes to camerawork and editing those video is phenomenal.

The colour pallet used was white and grey. As such no coloured lights were used as everything was shot in daytime. The location has a lot of greens in it. The establishing shot we see in a upper angle shot or a birds eye shot of a road and the car driving by

the shot is very appealing to the viewers eye. Lower angle shits of Talha walking in the woods are shown. Zoom of Mayra hanging by the car window Is also shown. Long shot of Talha in the woods.

180 degree rule is used here.

When we talk about editing Alyan tariq did his best Work here by far. There are smooth cuts and fades here and there. One thing that I question is

Why is here face here blurred? Is this a sign that she is dissapearing from his memories?

Other cuts shown are perfectly syncing with the lyrics and the video. Showing the woman with Talha and the her fading away slowly

At the outro of the video is shown how she dies. They're shown with the credits that i think is a great way to give credits as most of the audience can skip it. Showing Shots of credits and cuts of the robbery was a great match.
